Announcing “Scratch 9″

Well, folks, it’s been far, far too long since I’ve posted here and I apologize for that but I’m so excited because my latest project, “Scratch 9″, has finally been announced and previewed! It’s written by the uber-talented Rob Worley and illustrated by yours truly with covers by the unbelievably great artist, Mike Kunkel. The book follows the adventures of the adorable cat, “Scratch”, who, after running away from home gets caught up in an experiment that enables him to call on any one of his other 8 lives to help him. I hope you all enjoy reading it when it arrives on shelves this August!

The Reviews Are In!

I know, I know, Book 2′s been out for a few months now but I decided to wait a bit before I updated the site with any reviews. Anyway, much thanks to those who reviewed the book. On that note, some of you may have heard or I may have told you, that Yen Press will not be publishing a 3rd volume. While this is true that doesn’t mean the book is dead. Right now I’m weighing my options but if nothing else, I will be publishing it online and then printing on demand. Don’t worry though, I’m not letting the book die. With that, here are links to the reviews:

School Library Journal

KRUSE, Jason T. The World of Quest vol. 2. illus. by author. 143p. Yen Pr 2008. pap. $9.99. ISBN 978-0-7595-2889-5. LC number unavailable.

Gr 4-6–In this installment, Quest (a bodyguard) must continue to protect Prince Nestor as they search for the mysterious Dagger of the Way, whatever that is. They attempt to enter the dark forest Edj in order to talk to some rocks about their situation and they get separated. Nestor orders, or rather begs, a griffin for help as Lord Spite sends killer Snarls their way. With a mixture of sass and silliness, the paring of Quest and Nestor will have kids laughing in the stacks. The full-color panels look a lot like the old Sunday funnies but feel fresh and new. There are some jokes about unions at the beginning but they shouldn’t interfere with children’s enjoyment. A delightful read.–Sadie Mattox, DeKalb County Public Library, Decatur, GA

WORLD OF QUEST TP VOL 02 ON STANDS NOW!

Greetings all!

Well, it’s been a long time coming but I’m happy to announce that after wrapping season one of WORLD OF QUEST, the second volume of my graphic novel series, “The World of Quest” is on stands as of today, December 16th. It’s published by Yen Press and you can find it at your local Barnes and Noble, Borders and all sorts of other bookstores, comic shops and libraries. I hope you’ll check it out.

Here’s a summary for everyone:

As Quest comes to grips with having to care for a spoiled princeling they make their way into the deadly “Forest of Edj” to speak to the Rocks–oldest, wisest and most boring of beings in all of Odyssia to find out the whereabouts of “The Dagger of the Way” before the forces of evil do only to get separated.

While Quest is pursued by an angry mob of Snarls, Nestor meets up with the wily, thieving griffin, Graer, who may have his own agenda. With Lord Spite gathering his most fierce minions, a mysterious new ally may be the key to tipping the scales in favor of our heroes.
